The UFC is aiming to have a rematch between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson in Brazil for the November fight card. A verbal agreement has been established between both fighter, but not all of the paperwork has been finished.
Recently announced on “UFC Tonight” Tuesday night, the UFC is establishing a bout between Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort. The UFC is aiming to have the rematch November 9th in Brazil, however it hasn’t been officially set. The rematch will follow the last time they fight in PRIDE 32 back in 2006. Dan Henderson won a unanimous decision from the judges.
Belfort is excited for a new opponent after winning his past 2 fights by KO defeating both Michael Bisping and Like Rockhold. Vitor said unless he were fighting for the Middleweight title, he would fight in the Light Heavyweight division or possibly a catch-weight bout. He wanted to fight either Chael Sonnen or Dan Henderson. Belfort’s hopes of fighting for the title were put on hold after Chris Weidman’s upset over Anderson “The Spider” Silva. They were almost instantly set for a rematch putting Belfort on hold for a shot at the UFC belt and title.
Dan Henderson was forced to pull out of his fight with Jon “Bones” Jones due to an injury. Instead of fighting for the title, Hendo returned to fight Lyoto Machida and then Rashad Evans, which he lost both bouts to a close split decision.
The November 9 fight card will be hosted in Brazil, and will most likely be set as UFC Fight Night 31.
