Top 5 Best Muay Thai Shin Guards for Striking Training

If you are practicing your striking for MMA, odds are you train Muay Thai or some form of kickboxing. While there are many forms and styles of kickboxing, Muay Thai is the most prominent in the UFC and Mixed Martial Arts world. Muay Thai is known to some as the ” sledge hammer” of marial arts due to its focus on powerful shots. Almost every strike you throw in Thai Boxing is meant to finish or severely damage your opponent. While becoming a Muay Thai wrecking machine sounds awesome, it takes a lot of conditioning and practice to become great. The shins take a lot of damage in Muay Thai because you focus to hit your opponent with your shin and instep rather than your foot which can break easily. You can also bang your shins up trying to block someone else’s kick which isn’t fun either. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get the best Muay Thai shin guards.

I recommend you get yourself a pair of shin pads to protect yourself in training and especially sparring. If you don’t train with protective gear you are more susceptible to injuries and can shorten your training life as a fighter. While there are different styles of shin guards, I am going to show you a few that are great for MMA training. If you want to find the best Muay Thai shin guards for your training, check out the list below.

The Top 5 Best Muay Thai Shin Guards

Fairtex Muay Thai Shin Guardsbest muay thai shin guard

Fairtex is a pretty big name in Muay Thai gear and for a great reason. They make excellent training gear that is durable and can withstand some intense training. I really like these high quality leather shin guards because they are tough. I feel like I can kick anything with these on without fear of damaging my own legs. I like the double hook and loop straps over the back of the calves, its one of the more effective ways to hold them on.

The padding is pretty thick on these over the shin and great protection on the foot. Sometimes you catch a knee when going for a leg kick and you end up smashing your foot. I really like the fit and protection on these Muay Thai Shin pads. If you are looking for a solid pair of Muay Thai shin guards that are very authentic, I recommend checking these out. These are some of the best Muay Thai shin guards by Fairtex that I have ever used and they are worth checking out for any avid striker.
